WHAT DOES ELIZABETH MEAN???

Here is Libby's second BOM Challenge - love the colouring and the monogrammed "E", Libby - well done, girl!!!

And this is what she found out about the meaning of her name ...

Elizabeth is the Greek form of the Hebrew Elisheva meaning "my God is an Oath, "my God is abundance, "God's promise', or "oath of God". The Hebrew form appears in the Old Testament where Elisheva is the wife of Aaron, while the Greek form appears in the New Testament where Elizabeth is the mother of Jon the Baptist. Made popular by Queen Elizabeth I of England in the 16th century, Elizabeth is the name of the late Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II.
Elizabeth has 25 variant forms: Alizabeth, Bet, Beth, Betty, Bit, Elisa, Elizabet, Elisabeth, Elisabetta, Elissa, Eliza, Elizabel, Elizabeth, Elsa, Elspeth, Elyza,, Ilse, Isabel, Libby, Liesl, Lilibeth, Lisa, Liza, Lizbeth, Lizette.
I was named after my Aunt and Godmother, Maria Elizabeth. My dad added the Ann on.
There are 17 ships of the British Royal navy that have borne the name HMS Elizabeth.

Come on girls, get those A's into G and send me your stuff - can't wait to see it ...

Love,
